Hi, I’m Denise

I didn’t start out as a baker. I was a secondary school teacher in my previous career. But, I have been baking for a long time. I grew up with a mother and grandmothers who baked and shared techniques and recipes. I started to get serious decorating cakes and cookies in a Wilton class, the kind that you go to in person and learn hands-on. My instructor was a former bakery owner who who showed us lots of tips and tricks. I took some other decorating classes through a local community college and online through Craftsy and other sites. I started my bakery business mostly decorating sugar cookies, but my heart was in cake decorating.

I wanted to learn all I could about decorating. So, I continued to learn everything that I could from books, online, at conventions, cooking classes, in-person with instructors, and across the globe! I have been fortunate enough to learn new skills from top professionals in this business in Canada, the US, Austria, and France. Plus, I have hands on experience working in local bakeries.

For me, decorating cakes and cookies and anything else, is my Happy Place. I get so involved in the work that I sometimes find myself still working overnight and into the wee hours of the morning. That’s not what I prefer, but what happens when I sometimes lose track of time because I’m so involved in creating something special. A lot of time and hard work go into making the best desserts possible. I love seeing how happy people are when they get their order. Will you let me make something wonderful for you?
